Sure, he likely ends up with a larger percentage of the profits from the kickstarter sales - but I think the kickstarter stuff is more about putting together fun goody boxes and the like for his biggest fans. With the amount of money he's bringing in from these sales I doubt he really needs to care about getting even more to sign in for the kickstarter version. They may set the "normal" release a week or so later and give the kickstarter people a little bit of "early access", but I'd doubt it'd be more than a week.
